I am actually in the gym at this moment watching Jennifer practice. I just finished another 12 hour manual labor work day with her coach in 36 degree weather (97 f) and I am now sitting in a gym that has no air flow and no air conditioning, hence the title of this blog.
I visited the doctor again yesterday and he said that everything looks good and that it is not infected. However, he told my interpreter that I should do nothing athletically on it till Monday when he will take the stitches out. Apparently over here people actually listen to the doctor so I have not been allowed to do anything handballish, even though it feels fine. I was supposed to have a training session with ESV Weil today but it has been rescheduled for Monday. I really hope it goes well and they need a player because it is the closest team to our area and it is a good level for me.
We are continuously looking for jobs and find more and more places to post our resumes and try to get in contact with people who can help. Jen found a nanny gig for some Americans close by that pays OK, she is going to pursue that tomorrow I believe.
Jen spent her morning online researching wedding things, specifically invites and cakes, I hope she had luck because as much as I want to be involved, I get kinda bored quickly looking at those kinds of things, you know, my huge attention span and all. She than had lunch and a German session with some of her teammates. She said she felt comfortable with the German today and the understanding is coming along. The highlight of her day was the visit she and her teammates made to the "Doctor." I did not have much time to speak with her but she said that she was put through some tests she had never been put through before. I will have to learn more about this later so I can fill in some more, I didn't really understand what she was trying to explain to me. Sounded pretty interesting though.
In answer to Paintrains rather insightful questioning (and please feel free to do as he does and post any and all questions in the comments section, we will try and answer them with the best of our knowledge): I do not think the magnetic train craze has swept through Western Europe yet and here's why; they have the best train system in the world already. They have local, regional and high speed distance trains to everywhere and anywhere you wanna go. The local and regional are easy and relatively inexpensive. The high speed is a little pricey comparatively but it is uber fast, like 200 KPH plus (125 MPH's for your staties). They have all these trains in place already and where they don't have trains, they have buses, lots of them that run on a good system. Video and pics will be coming just as soon as we can get an internet connection fast enough to post them. I think I will try to post all the pics we have taken so far with captions on Facebook whenever I have some time but I'm afraid it takes way too long to upload them if they upload at all. So... video and pics are in an unknown state and will remain that way for awhile, sorry. Grocery stores are crazy, milk, eggs, cheese and other things that should be refrigerated are not, kinda gross. Most stores are small and cheap, however there is one in our town that is pretty big and carries some American stuff. Everything is fresh and most everything is local, its an experience to shop for food. You have to put a 1 Euro coin in to use the carts, you get it back when your done but still, I don't like it. You have to purchase bags and I'm not talking like 5 cents at Whole Foods, I'm talking like multiple Euro's and such. The weirdest thing along those lines is the trash and recycling. If you do it all correctly I think you should have like 5 different bags. One for straight garbage, one for vegetables and rubbish, one for paper and plastic, one for glass, and others for whatever I'm forgetting. It's nuts and confusing and being American, we tend to just throw everything away, sorry Mother Earth.
Our vows will be written and memorized. We have come to an agreement that they will not be long and lines or ideas can be stolen from books, just not verbatim. Even though Jen is a genius, she claims she has trouble spitting out memorized stuff when she is nervous so she may have a cheat sheet on her person on the big day. They may also include humor, however I have been told that if mine is too funny I will be in trouble. As for the Tegtmeier clan, I have yet to meet one here, however we are not in contact with many people yet, I will keep a lookout for them. The ones I have ran into in the states seem to be pretty good people so I would be more than willing to give them a chance on this side of the pond.
I realize this is lengthy and most likely a little boring. Sorry. To the men involved in the wedding, please refer to the wedding website in the near future, I will post some new ideas/activities that would be options for pre wedding week. Cheaper options as I realize that none of you are rich, yet.
I think thats all for now, hope all is well back home. Much Love.
